Pottery Glazing

Pottery Glazing

Many of you who have visited my workshop know that I make my own glazes from raw ingredients. This is the way my mentor, Jim Sanders made his glazes and it can be more economical than buying premade glazes. It's a tricky science, this glaze chemistry! But with practice and a bit of work, they can be remarkably beautiful! I enjoy the surprises that result from following a recipe and having positive results, such as this Arrowmont glaze (from John Britt). I would like to have a few signature glazes, but I keep experimenting to see what I can do!
